A Pinch of Physiotherapy May Be Just What You Need

Sore back? Sprained ankle? Desk job taking its toll? Whatever the reason, we’re glad you’re here. At A Pinch of Prevention, we help people of all ages reduce pain and move better.

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is about helping you move and feel better, which is often why people seek care. But there’s much more to it than meets the eye!

Beyond being a form of physical therapy, physiotherapy is a time-honoured discipline that recognises injury doesn’t define you. There’s always a pathway to recovery and renewal.

A variety of treatments are available, including massage, dry needling, and joint mobilisation. We work with you to find the best fit, helping you take control of your recovery. Physiotherapy can support your mobility and wellbeing at any stage of life.

Our Physio Approach

Physiotherapy isn’t just about treating injuries — it also involves patient education, tailored exercise programs, workplace assessments, pelvic floor health, continence care, and falls prevention.

A Pinch Of Prevention’s physiotherapists near Holland Park are focused on helping you reach your personal physical best, whatever that may look like for you within your own capabilities. Our physiotherapists begin with a thorough assessment and accurate diagnosis, then develop a personalised treatment plan using our 4-step process: Release, Re-educate, Reinforce, and Retain.

Release: Focusing on the key muscle impacting the joint to address the source of dysfunction.

Re-Educate: Guiding the muscles involved in movement to function properly, decreasing discomfort and preventing recurring pain.

Reinforce: Strengthening the key muscles to lower the risk of injury happening again.

Retain: Guiding you to maintain good movement patterns so you can continue to live actively and confidently.

Your Physiotherapy Questions Answered

Do physiotherapists appointments require a referral?

Physiotherapists can be considered first-contact independent practitioners. If you have an acute injury, or chronic pain or need to visit us, you don’t require a doctor’s referral. The physiotherapists of A Pinch Of Physiotherapy are more than happy to work alongside your healthcare team; be they podiatrists, dentists, GPs or naturopaths; and are delighted to accept Enhanced Primary Care plans from your treating physician.

What qualifications do physios have?

Physiotherapy is a highly regulated profession in Australia. This includes successful completion of university-level tertiary education, active membership in The Australian Physiotherapist Association and registration with The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Each member must complete at least 20 hours in continuing practice education each calendar year to keep their membership active. Patients can feel assured that their physiotherapist has been board-certified, adheres to an ethical code and is up to date with the latest research in their field.

How many physio sessions do I need?

It will depend on your personal goals, needs, and treatment plan. Some people may only require a few sessions while others might need an ongoing, long-term treatment plan.

Is there a desired clothing for physio treatment?

It doesn’t matter if you dress up or down. Wear whatever you are comfortable in. If possible, bring something that will allow us the opportunity to treat the affected areas.

Are Medicare and private health insurance accepted for physiotherapy?

It all depends on your particular case. Physiotherapy coverage may also be available through Medicare under an Enhanced Primary Care plan. Private health insurance may or may not cover physiotherapy. We recommend that you speak with your insurer for advice.

How can I tell if physiotherapy is the appropriate treatment for my injury?

Get in touch with our team if you aren’t sure physiotherapy would be right for your needs. Our physios will meet with you to evaluate your needs and assist you to choose the most beneficial treatment option for you.
