Our Physio Approach

From injury recovery and prevention to occupational health, pelvic floor support, continence care, and falls risk management, physiotherapy supports many aspects of your health journey.

A Pinch Of Prevention’s physiotherapists near Coopers Plains are focused on helping you reach your personal physical best, whatever that may look like for you within your own capabilities. Our physiotherapists begin with a thorough assessment and accurate diagnosis, then develop a personalised treatment plan using our 4-step process: Release, Re-educate, Reinforce, and Retain.

Release: Targeting the primary muscle around the joint that’s contributing to the dysfunction.

Re-Educate: Guiding the muscles involved in movement to function properly, decreasing discomfort and preventing recurring pain.

Reinforce: Strengthening the key muscles to lower the risk of injury happening again.

Retain: Guiding you to maintain good movement patterns so you can continue to live actively and confidently.

Physiotherapists focus on the musculoskeletal system and are often recommended by GPs for their ability to help ease pain and stiffness. We also work with a wide range of conditions to help you move better and enjoy life to the fullest. If something feels off, we’re here to help!

Your first consultation involves a comprehensive assessment and informed diagnosis, carefully considering your symptoms and medical history. Your physiotherapist works with you to develop a plan that targets your concerns—be it a sore knee, headaches, arthritis, or a sports injury—focusing on your goals for physiotherapy.

Your Physiotherapy Questions Answered

Do I need a referral to see a physio?

Physiotherapists can be considered first-contact independent practitioners. If you have an acute injury, or chronic pain or need to visit us, you don’t require a doctor’s referral. A Pinch Of Physiotherapy physiotherapists will gladly work with any healthcare team including podiatrists and dentists and can accept Enhanced Primary Care Plans from your GP.

What qualifications do physios have?

Physiotherapy is a highly regulated profession in Australia. This includes successful completion of university-level tertiary education, active membership in The Australian Physiotherapist Association and registration with The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. It is a requirement for all members to complete at least 20 hours of continuing practice education (CPE) annually in order to maintain an active membership with these regulatory bodies. Compliance with these rules allows patients to feel confident that their physiotherapist is a board-certified professional, subject to an ethical code of conduct and remains fully versed with current research and techniques within their field

How many sessions of physiotherapy are required?

Based on your goals, treatment plans and individual needs, the number of treatments that you might need may vary. Some people may only require a few sessions while others might need an ongoing, long-term treatment plan.

What should I wear for my physio appointment?

There’s no need to dress to impress here! Wear whatever you are comfortable in. If possible, bring something that will allow us the opportunity to treat the affected areas. Shorts may be the best option for you if you are experiencing knee pain.

Is physiotherapy covered by Medicare or any private health insurance?

This depends on your individual circumstances. You may be eligible for physiotherapy coverage through Medicare with an Enhanced Primary Care Plan. If you have private insurance, this may or might not cover physiotherapy.

How can I tell if physiotherapy is the appropriate treatment for my injury?

You can get in touch with us to determine if physiotherapy is for you. Our physiotherapists will assess your needs and recommend the best treatment options for you.
