Our Physio Approach

From injury recovery and prevention to occupational health, pelvic floor support, continence care, and falls risk management, physiotherapy supports many aspects of your health journey.

A Pinch Of Prevention’s physiotherapists are focused on helping you reach your personal physical best, whatever that may look like for you within your own capabilities. Our physiotherapists begin with a thorough assessment and accurate diagnosis, then develop a personalised treatment plan using our 4-step process: Release, Re-educate, Reinforce, and Retain.

Release: Loosening the primary muscle affecting the joint to restore more natural function.

Re-Educate: Improving the biomechanics of key muscles to promote smoother movement and minimise painful episodes.

Reinforce: Focused muscle strengthening to protect against recurring injuries.

Retain: Guiding you to maintain good movement patterns so you can continue to live actively and confidently.

What To Expect From Your Physio Appointment?

With a strong focus on the musculoskeletal system, physiotherapists are commonly recommended by GPs to help manage pain and stiffness. We help people move better and get more out of life—so if something feels ‘not quite right’, we’re the team for you!

An initial consultation covers a thorough review of your symptoms and medical history, leading to a diagnosis and tailored treatment plan. Physiotherapy is highly individualised, and your options will be discussed with you before treatment starts.

Your physiotherapist will create treatment and management plans tailored to your needs, helping you address specific issues like a sore knee, headaches, arthritis, or sports injuries. Your goals are always at the centre of your care.

Physiotherapists apply a range of techniques including joint mobilisation, muscle and myofascial release, trigger point therapy, manual therapy, dry needling, and exercise therapy. Any treatment recommended is chosen carefully to support you in reaching your goals.

Your Physiotherapy Questions Answered

Do I need a referral to see a physio?
Physiotherapists can be seen without the need for a referral from a doctor. A Pinch Of Physiotherapy physiotherapists will gladly work with any healthcare team including podiatrists and dentists and can accept Enhanced Primary Care Plans from your GP.
What qualifications are required for physios?
Physiotherapy in Australia is a highly regulated industry that requires successful completion of university-level tertiary studies, active membership with The Australian Physiotherapist Association (APA) and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Each member must complete at least 20 hours in continuing practice education each calendar year to keep their membership active. These rules allow patients to be confident that their physiotherapists are board-certified professionals, subject to an ethics code of conduct, and fully informed about current research and techniques in their field.
How many sessions of physiotherapy are required?
It will depend on your personal goals, needs, and treatment plan. For some, they might only need a few sessions. Others might require a long-term and more comprehensive plan.
What should I wear for my physio appointment?
Here, you don’t need to dress up! Wear whatever you are comfortable in. If possible, bring something that will allow us the opportunity to treat the affected areas. Shorts may be the best option for you if you are experiencing knee pain.
Can I pay for physiotherapy through Medicare or private insurance?
This depends on your individual circumstances. Physiotherapy coverage might be available through Medicare with an Enhanced Primary Care plan. Private health insurance may or not include physiotherapy – check with your provider.
How do I know if physiotherapy is the right treatment type for my injury or condition?
You can get in touch with us to determine if physiotherapy is for you. Our physiotherapists will assess your needs and recommend the best treatment options for you.
