Our Physio Approach

From injury recovery and prevention to occupational health, pelvic floor support, continence care, and falls risk management, physiotherapy supports many aspects of your health journey.

The physiotherapists at A Pinch Of Prevention are passionate about helping you become the best physical version of yourself, in a way that’s realistic and tailored to you. We take a structured approach to your care, starting with precise assessment and diagnosis, followed by a personalised 4-step program: Release, Re-educate, Reinforce, and Retain.

Release: Working on the main muscle causing joint dysfunction to promote better movement.

Re-Educate: Guiding the muscles involved in movement to function properly, decreasing discomfort and preventing recurring pain.

Reinforce: Supporting recovery by strengthening muscles and reducing the chance of re-injury.

Retain: Teaching you how to maintain proper form during movement to support everyday activities and long-term progress.

Your Physiotherapy Questions Answered

Do I need a referral in order to visit a physical therapist?

A physiotherapist is an autonomous first-contact practitioner. This means you don’t need to be referred by a doctor to see us for acute injuries or chronic pain. A Pinch Of Physiotherapy physiotherapists will gladly work with any healthcare team including podiatrists and dentists and can accept Enhanced Primary Care Plans from your GP.

What qualifications does a qualified physiotherapist have?

Physiotherapy in Australia has a strict regulatory board. It requires successful completion of at least one year of university-level tertiary study, active membership with The Australian Physiotherapist Association or AHPRA registration and active membership with The Australian Physiotherapist Association. Each member must complete at least 20 hours in continuing practice education each calendar year to keep their membership active. Compliance with these rules allows patients to feel confident that their physiotherapist is a board-certified professional, subject to an ethical code of conduct and remains fully versed with current research and techniques within their field

How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?

Your individual goals, needs and condition will determine how many treatments you need. For some, they might only need a few sessions. Others might require a long-term and more comprehensive plan.

What should I wear during a physio appointment?

There’s no need to dress to impress here! You can wear whatever you like, but ensure that we can still work on the affected area of your body.

Is physiotherapy covered under Medicare or any private health insurance?

This will depend on your specific condition. Physiotherapy coverage may also be available through Medicare under an Enhanced Primary Care plan. Private health insurance may or may not cover physiotherapy. We recommend that you speak with your insurer for advice.

How do I determine if physiotherapy is right for me?

Contact us if you are unsure if physiotherapy might be right for you. Our physios will meet with you to evaluate your needs and assist you to choose the most beneficial treatment option for you.
