Our Physio Approach

Physiotherapy covers many areas of life, including injury treatment and prevention, education, exercise programs, occupational health checks, pelvic floor support, continence care, and falls prevention.

Our team at A Pinch Of Prevention is dedicated to guiding you towards becoming the best physical version of yourself, in a way that respects your individual journey. At A Pinch Of Prevention, we assess and diagnose carefully before crafting your individual treatment plan, built around our proven 4-step approach: Release, Re-educate, Reinforce, and Retain.

Release: Loosening the primary muscle affecting the joint to restore more natural function.

Re-Educate: Helping the right muscles move efficiently to ease pain and lower the risk of future dysfunction.

Reinforce: Focused muscle strengthening to protect against recurring injuries.

Retain: Teaching you how to maintain proper form during movement to support everyday activities and long-term progress.

What To Expect From Your Physio Appointment?

Physiotherapists work with the body’s musculoskeletal system and are trusted by GPs to help with pain, stiffness, and mobility. If you’re not feeling your best, we’re here to help you get back on track!

An initial consultation covers a thorough review of your symptoms and medical history, leading to a diagnosis and tailored treatment plan. Physiotherapy is highly individualised, and your options will be discussed with you before treatment starts.

Together with your physiotherapist, you’ll build a plan tailored to your needs, whether you’re managing knee pain, headaches, arthritis, or recovering from a sports injury. Your care is all about you.

Your physiotherapist may use techniques like joint mobilisation, manual therapy, myofascial release, trigger point release, dry needling, and exercise therapy. Each recommendation is thoughtfully selected to give you the best chance of success.

Your Physiotherapy Questions Answered

Do physiotherapists appointments require a referral?

Physiotherapists can be seen without the need for a referral from a doctor. A Pinch Of Physiotherapy’s physiotherapists are happy to collaborate with your healthcare team, whether they are podiatrists, dentists, or another healthcare professional. They are also open to accepting Enhanced Primary Care Plans from your doctor.

What qualifications do physios have?

Physiotherapy in Australia is a highly regulated industry that requires successful completion of university-level tertiary studies, active membership with The Australian Physiotherapist Association (APA) and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). All members must complete at least 20 hours of continuing education each year in order to remain active members of these regulatory bodies. These rules allow patients to be confident that their physiotherapists are board-certified professionals, subject to an ethics code of conduct, and fully informed about current research and techniques in their field.

How many sessions of physiotherapy are required?

Your individual goals, needs and condition will determine how many treatments you need. Some may only require a few sessions. Others may need a longer-term, more intensive plan.

What should I wear for my physio appointment?

You don’t have to dress up to impress! Wear whatever you are comfortable in. If possible, bring something that will allow us the opportunity to treat the affected areas. For example, if you have knee pain you may want to wear shorts, or if you have shoulder pain, a singlet may be a good idea.

Is physiotherapy covered under Medicare or any private health insurance?

It all depends on your particular case. You may be eligible for physiotherapy coverage through Medicare with an Enhanced Primary Care Plan. If you have private insurance, this may or might not cover physiotherapy.

How can I tell if physiotherapy is the appropriate treatment for my injury?

Contact us if you are unsure if physiotherapy might be right for you. Our physiotherapists will assess your needs, and then determine the best treatment options.
